The local guide, together with a chauffeur, will pick you up at your Shanghai hotel. Then you will be driven to Luwan District. There are many Shikumen buildings, especially along Huaihai Road.
Stroll along the streets and lanes; find some local families’ daily life.
Then drive to Xintiandi. This is an entertainment complex built in Shikumen style.
Another stop today is Memorial House of the First National Congress of the CPC. This historic site is also of Shikumen style. It is free open to the public. If you are interested, you may also get entry to the museum upstairs.
Lunch is not included to leave you the opportunity to find what you would like to eat during this day trip.

- Site of the CPC First National Congress: Located in South Huangpi Road, the site is a typical Shikumen architectural structure peculiar to Shanghai. In July 1921, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held here. At the congress, the Party’s program and resolution was adopted; the central committee was elected; and the founding of the Communist Party of China was declared. The site has been renovated according to the original state, with all the things inside kept as they were. The site also consists of three exhibition rooms.
- Xin Tian Di Entertainment Complex: It is a state-of-the-art warren of upscale shops, bars and restaurants based on the theme of "where old meets new". Here you find the oddly complimentary combination of the traditional houses of old Shanghai (the 'Shikumen') hosting ultra modern restaurants, bars and shops. The exterior of these shikumen style houses of 1920's Shanghai have been tastefully restored, whilst inside they have been fully renovated to accommodate the tastes of the modern Westerner.
